EFFECT OF CANALSONWATER QUALITY OF SAIGON RIVER –SECTIONS FLOW THROUGH BINH DUONG PROVINCE /NGUYEN HIEN THAN, TRUONG QUOC MINH, TẠP CHÍ ĐẠI HỌC THỦ DẦU MỘT,SỐ 1(40),2019.TR.70-76

Saigon River is a major river system and plays an important role in the economic and social development of the Southern key economic region. This paper studies the relationship between canals and the Saigon River. Water quality monitoring data was collected at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, with 10 parameters (temperature, pH, DO, turbidity, TSS, COD, BOD5, N-NH4, P-PO4, coliform) calculated in the period 2007-2016. The results showedthat the Saigon River’s water qualityhas been good and stable water qualityin recent years, fluctuating around the level of 80-used for domestic water supply after appropriate measures have been taken. The water quality in canals flowing intothe Saigon River was relatively stable and was at the medium levelover years. It isused for irrigation purposes and other similar purposes. The results of the correlation analysis also showedthat the RSG1 (at Ba Sang Bridge), RSG2 (Suoi Giua at Suoi Giua Bridge) and RSG6 (Rach Vinh Binh at DinKy Restaurant) were fair correlated with Saigon river’swaterqualitywith the correlation coefficient of 0.3995, 0.4280 and 0.3351respectively. These results indicated thatthe monitoring points at Ba Sang Bridge and Suoi Giua at Suoi Giua Bridge and Vinh Binh Canal at Din Ky restaurant affectedthe Sai Gon river’s water qualityin the area flowing Binh Duong province.
